Poiana Brasov
- Located 12km from the city of Brasov. It is purpose-built, but not designed for convenience: the hotels are dotted about stretched wooded plateau, served by buses and taxis. The main slopes (over 17km in total) consist of decent intermediate tree-lined runs of about 750m vertical, roughly following the line of the main cable car and gondola, plus an open nursery area at the top. Good off-piste opportunities. The resort gets weekend business from Brasov and Bucharest, and the main lifts can suffer serious lines as a result. Fairly lively apres-ski, very limited off-slope facilities.

- Easy to early-advanced tree-lined skiing and snowboarding at about 1,000m altitude in winter resort 140km from Bucharest, 25km from Brasov ski area.

Sinaia
- A popular 4-season spa resort on the busy road from Bucharest to Brasov. Offering modest intermediate slopes, on largely treeless hills next to the quite town. Runs are poorly marked and are consequently challenging in uncertain visibility. Very limited apres-ski, very busy on weekends, rather poor grooming.
