60km of treeless skiing and snowboarding on wide-open slopes above Artesina village at 1,300m - 2,100m altitude. Trails of all grades, 14 lifts, night skiing operation. Lot of off-piste terrain with excitingly deep powder.
Sestriere
Modern, purpose-built ski resort with local slopes suitable for most levels, being part of the extensive 400km Franco-Italian Milky Way arena. With north-west facing slopes the snow reliability is usually good, with extensive artificial backup. Weekend and peak-period queues, little apres-ski during the week. Altitude ranging 1,390m - 2,825m.

Alpiaz Montecampione
Located between villages of Artogne and PianCamuno, in the low Valcamonica valley in the Brescia province at 1,200m altitude. The resort offers nearly 100km of mainly intermediate skiing with some stunning views of Iseo lake and the giant Adamello mountain. Extensive snowmaking, night skiing.
Alta Badia
Situated in a natural basin at the foot of the Sella massif, surrounded by numerous peaks that all have their own unique shape but still have the characteristic jagged shape of the Dolomites. 130km of mainly beginner to intermediate pistes at 1,324m - 2,778m altitude, serviced by 54 lifts. Impressive terrain park for snowboarders, night skiing.
Alta Pusteria
The skiing areas extend around the 5 main villages of Sesto, San Candido, Dobbiaco, Villabassa and Braies. There are hardly ever queues for lifts, no crowds on the slopes, gentle slopes for families and also downhills and ski touring for the professionals.
Andalo
Nestled at 1,050m in the heart of Trentino, only 20km from the S. Michele all'Adige exit of the Brenner-Modena highway. In total there are 25 ski-lifts serving a carousel of 50km runs of various difficulty that are all perfectly covered with snow thanks to the very modern programmed snow system reaching 60% of the whole ski area.

Arabba
A small, unspoilt village tucked away in a fold of the landscape and surrounded by the most challenging skiing in the area. The principal language here is Italian, although Arabba is only a couple of miles south of the Sud-Tyrol border. 1,600m - 2,950m.
Bardonecchia
110km of skiing & boarding on reasonably varied terrain, excellent for beginners and for near-beginners, with many long, easy runs. Attractive Alpine scenery, 23 lifts, night skiing, perfect grooming, extensive snowmaking, 1,300m altitude.
Bondone
A local resort combining the convenience of its short distance from Trento with a long tradition of history and quite sophisticated shopping (only 15km from the Brenner highway A22) and the joy of an unforgettable alpine panorama. A complete winter offering with 15km of mainly intermediate slopes in a picturesque environment, 26km of cross country tracks and an exclusive area for alpine lovers and winter excursions.
Bormio
A tall, narrow mountain with mix of high, open pistes and woodland runs adding up to some good long runs. 120km of slopes, 36 lifts (with crowds & queues on Sundays) with good snow reliability. Best for intermediate skiers. 1,225m - 3,010m altitude.
Brixen - Plose
The pleasant and calm mountain villages St. Andrä (980m) and Afers (1,500m) are situated on the south-west-side of the Plose above the Eisack-valley. Both villages are connected with the skiing area Plose offering 16 groomed runs with 9 lifts.

Camigliatello
Mainly intermediate skiing and snowboarding on the slopes of Mount Curcio, (1,786m) in the Sila highlands, Italy.
Cervinia
Extensive mountain with miles of long, consistently gentle runs - ideal for early intermediates. High, sunny and snowsure slopes amid impressive scenery. Link with nearby Zermatt in Switzerland provides even more spectacular views and good skiing and/or lunches. Almost entirely treeless area - little to do in bad weather. 1,525m - 3,480m altitude, 200km of pistes, 31 lifts af all grades. Lift lines at peak times.
Champorcher
25km of mostly intermediate skiing on 14 treeless, sunny runs served by 5 lifts. 1,427m - 2,495m altitude. Located west of Bard, south-east of Aosta. Good mountain for everyone but the double-diamond diehard; extensive, imaculately groomed intermediate slopes are a particular strength. Lots of other nearby resorts, few lift lines.
Civetta
A fairy-tale landscape, perfectly snow-clad ski runs, both for those who love steep slopes and for those who prefer tranquil skiing, modern ski-lifts. Featuring 80km of skiing on 44 open, treeless runs good for all standards, serviced by 26 efficient lifts. 1,000m to 2,200m altitude, good snow record. Magnificent Dolomiti scenery all around the place.
Cortina d'Ampezzo
Attractive resort with lots of upmarket shops. Marvellous nursery slopes and good long cruising runs, magnificent Dolomite scenery - perhaps the most dramatic of any winter resort. Remarkably uncrowded slopes, lot to do off-skis, access to the vast area covered by Dolomiti Superski pass. 1,225m - 2,930m, 140km of pistes with 51 lifts.
Courmayeur
Charming, traditional village with car-free centre and stylish shops and stunning views of Mont Blanc massif. Pleasant range of intermediate runs (100km), comprehensive snowmaking, good mountain restaurants and lively, but not rowdy apres-ski. Good base for heli-skiing. 1,210m - 2,755m altitude. On Sundays the slopes get very crowdy.
Dolomites - Cortina d'Ampezzo
The area around the Falzarego Pass is certainly one of the most charming in the Dolomites. Lying in part within the Ampezzo Dolomites Park and bordering the Natural Park of Sennes and Fanes, it offers a rich variety of skiable terrain for all standards.

Folgaria,Lavarone,Luserna - Trentino
To ski along the ridges of our mountains, at altitudes between 1300 and 2050 m is a truly exciting experience. On the plateaux there are no marked trails or itineraries, our advice, also in the interests of safety, is to consult the instructors from the ski schools or the mountain guides.
Folgarida
A modern winter resort in the middle of a sweet smelling pine forest, only 9km from Madonna di Campiglio. With an impressive ski area, covering a total of 120km of beautiful slopes between the Brenta Dolomites and the Ortles Cevedale group Folgarida offers plenty of opportunities for amusement and pleasure on and off the slopes.
Foppolo
Good mix of high, open, mostly intermediate terrain on 23 groomed downhill ski runs, making a total of 47km, and the possibility of spraying artificial snow onto about 12km of piste. The modem ski-lifts mean no or little queueing. Great mountain restaurants.
Gitschberg - Jochtal
Family friendly ski & snowboarding resort with 44km of mostly intermediate, perfectly groomed, sunny, treeless runs serviced by 18 lifts at 1,414m - 2,512m altitude.
Kastelruth
Pure fun on skis on the largest mountain grassland in Europe. 70 km of perfectly prepared pistes at 1,219m - 2005m altitude. Artificial snow facilities always guarantee excellent skiing conditions. 23 ski lifts will take you to the various peaks or to the ski huts, making your holiday an unforgettable experience. Klausberg
16 km of varied skiing on fully treed, nicely groomed runs of all grades on the Southern side of the Alps, in the heart of the Ahrntal/ Valle Aurina holiday paradise. 1,052m - 2,098m altitude. Extensive snowmaking, night skiing operation, rocking apres-ski.
Kronplatz
An interesting ski area on the Italian-Austrian border, also known as Plan de Corones, covered by the Dolomiti Superski lift pass. 85km of pistes are served by 33 lifts, of which an astonishing 12 are gondolas. The ski area can be reached from five different bases including Bruneck and St.Vigil. 900m (2,953ft) - 2,275m (7,464ft) altitude.
La Thuile
Little-known Italian ski resort with fair-sized slopes (150km) and good lift system linked to La Rosiere in France. Free of crowds and queues. Good snow reliability thanks to high altitude (1,175m - 2,640m), rather limited expert skiing, not much apres-ski.
Ladurns im Pflerschtal
Offering 14km of beginner and early-intermediate skiing & boarding on treeless bowl at 1,137m - 2,000m altitude. Area served by 4 lifts.
Latemar
Ski area situated among the provinces of Trento and Bolzano. It is a partner of the wider Consorzio Fiemme / Obereggen that can boast 50 lifts with more than 100km of pistes. The area covers 3 ski resorts: two in Val di Fiemme (Pampeago and Predazzo) and the other in the Latemar basin in Bolzano province down to the Obereggen.
Livigno
Cosmopolitan, friendly village with some Alpine atmosphere, cheap by the standards of high resorts, with the bonus of duty-free shopping (a great place to treat yourself to new equipment). High altitude (1,815m - 2,800m) plus extensive snowmaking ensures a long season, large choice of beginner slopes, modern efficient lift system. Mostly treeless skiing.
Macugnaga
The resort is made up of 5 villages: Staffa, Pecetto, Isella, Borca and Pestarena. They all lie at the foot of the spectacular east face of the Monte Rosa, close to the Swiss border, 2 hrs drive from Turin. Staffa and Pecetto have their own small ski areas, linked by ski bus. Good overall skiing for beginners and intermediates. 1,327m - 2,984m altitude.

Madesimo
Small, attractive village right on the Swiss border, close enough for a shoping spree in St.Moritz, 2 hrs drive north of Bergamo. Featuring mostly intermediate skiing on usually uncrowded slopes of Pizzo Groppera, with long runs leading down into the neighbouring Valle di Lei. The high altitude (1,530m - 2,984m) ensures reasonable snow conditions. 50km of mostly red slopes, served by 16 lifts. 2 terrain parks and a half-pipe.
Madonna di Campiglio
Pleasant, traditional-style town with car-free centre. Fairly extensive network of gentle, wooded slopes, best for beginners and intermediates, excellent mountain restaurants. Quiet apres-ski scene. 150km total pistes, 50 lifts, 1,550m - 2,505m altitude.
Malga Ciapela - Marmolada
Malga Ciapela at the food of the Marmolada glacier and right in the heart of the Dolomites offers 20km of totally treeless, mainly intermediate terrain, ideal for carving, with stunning views all around the place. Altitude ranging 1,450m to 3,270m.
Malga San Valentino
One of the most beautiful ski station of Venosta Valley. The wonderful natural landscape, covered by a wide snow mantle, calls for unforgettable emotions. 20km of varied, well-groomed pistes with over 1,200m vertical drop and no lift lines.
Marilleva
An impressive ski area, integrated with Folgarida and Madonna di Campiglio, summing up a total of 120km groomed trails between the Brenta Dolomites and the Ortles Cevedale.
Moena
Situated between the Fiemme and Fassa valleys, Italy, nicknamed the 'fairy of the Dolomites'. Outstanding scenery, excellent-value lift pass, great resort for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels.
Monte Bianco
An impressive off-piste descent the steep Toula Glacier arrives down to the Pavillon area. A real challenge for the advanced skier who can easily choose between different itineraries thanks the width of the ski terrain. Good snow conditions allow the descent down to the Mont Blanc tunnel entrance.
Monte Pora
High altitude (1,513m - 1,920m) skiing and snowboarding on wide-open, sunny terrain above Monte Pora village. Skiing spreads in five nearby, but not exactly linked resorts: Presolana, Colere, Lizzola, Monte Pora and Spiazzi and offers a large choice of beginner to advanced slopes. Few off-slope amenities, rather quiet nightlife.
Monterosa
Quiet, pretty, unspoilt small village - an undiscovered gem. Fairly extensive network of pistes (200km), fabulous intermediate and advanced off-piste, including heli-skiing, beautiful scenery, good snow reliability and grooming. 1,200m - 3,350m altitude, few off-skis diversions, limited apres-ski. Sometimes weekend lift lines, weekdays are okay.
